THE ADMINISTRATOR of the Minerals Development Fund (MDF), Dr. Hanna Bisiw-Kotei, has donated educational materials to pupils of the Atatam D/A Primary School in the Adansi Asokwa District of the Ashanti Region.
The donation, made during her working visit to the community, forms part of MDF’s broader goal of improving educational outcomes in mining-affected and underserved areas.
Dr. Bisiw-Kotei was met with excitement by school children, staff, and residents, as she handed over items including exercise books, school bags, pens, pencils, textbooks, and other, teaching materials worth hundreds of cedis.

The donation is aimed at easing the burden on parents, supporting teachers, and motivating learners to take their studies seriously.
Speaking at the short ceremony, Dr. Bisiw-Kotei emphasized that education remains a key tool for community transformation and long-term development. “The MDF is not only about roads and infrastructure.
We’re committed to investing in people, especially children; who are the future of our country. Education in mining areas must be prioritized,” she said.
She praised the efforts of teachers in rural communities and assured them of the Fund’s continued support. She also revealed that the MDF will soon roll out more interventions in health and education across mining districts.

The Headteacher of the school, Mr. Kwame Owusu, expressed heartfelt appreciation, describing the donation as timely. “Most of our pupils come from low-income homes. These supplies will ease pressure on parents and help improve teaching and learning,” he said.
Community elders and parents joined in thanking the MDF Boss for the intervention and appealed for further support, including classroom renovations and access to ICT tools.
