THE PILGRIMS Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has announced a reduction in the Hajj 2026 fare from GH¢62,000 to GH¢60,000.
The decision was made after high-level consultations with leading Islamic clerics and key stakeholders.
Chairman of PAOG, Alhaji Abdul-Rauf Tanko Ibrahim, confirmed the new fare in a press statement issued on October 13, 2025. He expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for granting the directive and for offering him the opportunity to serve once again in the role.
“This reduction follows fruitful engagements with the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu; Sheikh Umar Ibrahim of Ahlussuna Wal Jama’a; Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salih, Head of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana; and accredited Hajj agents,” he said.
Alhaji Tanko urged all stakeholders to demonstrate integrity and commitment as preparations for the pilgrimage progress. He also called on prospective pilgrims to pay their fares on time to avoid any last-minute complications.
“All accredited agents must ensure that payments are made only to the officially designated bank,” he stressed. “This will help fast-track logistics and ensure a smoother process for all pilgrims.”

PAOG is currently working within an official quota of 6,782 pilgrims for the 2026 Hajj and is hopeful of securing more slots from the Saudi Ministry of Hajj through effective planning and execution.
Alhaji Tanko reaffirmed the Office’s dedication to transparent, disciplined, and well-organized Hajj operations, with the goal of restoring confidence in Ghana’s pilgrimage management system.
