RESESIDENTS of Nungua have been facing a severe water shortage for several months, putting immense pressure on households, businesses, and everyday life.
Speaking to Nationaltymes.com, one resident described the situation as “unacceptable and ironic,” considering that Nungua hosts the Sea Water Desalination Plant — a facility built precisely to prevent such crises.

At a recent Town Hall meeting, officials from the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) gave vague and unconvincing reasons for the continued breakdown of the plant. Their explanations fall far short of the transparency and solutions the people of Nungua deserve.

We therefore call on the GWCL, the Member of Parliament for Krowor, Hon. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, and the Municipal Chief Executive to immediately and publicly address constituents on:
1. The root causes of the plant’s continued shutdown
2. Immediate and long-term steps being taken to restore water supply
3. A clear timeline for resolving the crisis
Water is a basic human right, not a luxury. The people of Nungua demand answers and action — now.
