
VICE-CHAIRPERSON of Parliament’s Gender, Children and Social Protection Committee, Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah (MP), has led a Ghanaian delegation to Rwanda as part of efforts to strengthen international cooperation on gender equality and inclusive governance.
During the visit, Hon. Ibrahimah met with officials from Rwanda’s Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion (MIGEPROF) and the Gender Committee of the Rwandan Parliament.
Promoting Gender Equality and Inclusion:
She shared Ghana’s progress on key policies such as the Affirmative Action Bill, which aims to increase women’s representation in leadership and public decision-making, and the Social Protection Bill, which seeks to protect vulnerable groups, especially women and children.

Hon. Ibrahimah also mentioned the importance of strong local governance systems in promoting inclusion, development, and social justice across communities.
Ghana–Rwanda Knowledge Exchange:
The engagement focused on sharing best practices and exploring partnerships between Ghana and Rwanda to improve gender-focused programmes. Both sides discussed collaboration on technical support, community development, and capacity building for gender equality.

Hon. Ibrahimah syressed that democracy and participatory governance are essential to ensuring equal rights and opportunities for all, especially women and children.
A Step Toward South–South Cooperation:
The visit forms part of growing South–South cooperation between African nations. It reflects Ghana’s commitment to learning from successful models while contributing its own experiences to global gender advocacy.
