GHANA’s High Commissioner to the UK and Ireland, H.E. Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson, has paid a working visit to the National Identification Authority (NIA) to discuss plans for registering Ghanaians living in the UK and Ireland for the Ghana Card.
The meeting, held on Thursday, September 11, 2025, brought Her Excellency together with the Executive Secretary of the NIA, Mr. Yayra Koku, and his technical team.
Mr. Koku informed the High Commissioner that preparations were underway to begin registration in London, and the NIA would require the full support of the Ghana High Commission to make the exercise successful.
The registration process will involve three simple steps:
1. Online application by the applicant.
2. Virtual interview with NIA officials to verify Ghanaian nationality.
3. Biometric capture at the Ghana High Commission in London.

H.E. Mrs. Zita Benson welcomed the initiative and pledged her full support and that of the Mission to ensure a smooth and effective rollout. She emphasized the importance of ensuring that all Ghanaians abroad are properly documented.
She also assured the NIA that mobile registration centers would be arranged for Ghanaians living outside London, with dates to be announced in due course as plans progress.

This initiative is part of efforts to extend national identification services to the Ghanaian diaspora and promote inclusion in national development.
