HER EXCELLENCY Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson, Ghana’s newly appointed High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, has pledged to prioritise economic diplomacy and deepen bilateral relations as she assumes her new role.

Speaking to Nationaltymes.com after participating in an orientation programme for newly appointed envoys at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mrs. Zita Benson affirmed her commitment to championing President John Dramani Mahama’s “Reset Agenda” by focusing on attracting investments, promoting Ghanaian culture, and strengthening diplomatic ties.
“My top priority is economic diplomacy. We intend to organise programmes that will attract UK-based investors and businesses to Ghana,” she stated.
“….I will also work to deepen the traditional Ghana-UK relationship and promote cultural diplomacy to boost tourism and increase traffic from the UK to Ghana.”
Mrs. Benson also pledged to improve visa and consular services at Ghana’s mission in the UK and Ireland while ensuring strong engagement with the Ghanaian community abroad.
“I intend to achieve this through advocacy, lobbying, and promoting our culture and products via exhibitions, conferences, and the media,” she said.
As a seasoned diplomat and public servant, Mrs. Benson emphasised her commitment to telling Ghana’s story effectively by showcasing the country’s culture, exportable products, investment opportunities, and tourism potential.
“I will encourage both Ghanaians in the diaspora and foreign investors to explore the many opportunities available in Ghana. From agriculture to manufacturing, from technology to tourism, Ghana is open for business.”

To support her mission, she plans to collaborate with key government agencies such as the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Ghana Free Zones Authority, Ghana Export Promotion Authority, the Ghana Tourism Authority, and the Diaspora Affairs Office at the Presidency.
Her Excellency Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson concluded by expressing confidence in Ghana’s potential to attract global investment, assuring that her office will actively facilitate engagements between Ghana and international stakeholders.
