Bawumia in Cash-for-Votes Scandal? Alleged ‘Money Envelopes’ Rock NPP Ahead of Internal Elections

A POLITICAL storm is brewing within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following explosive claims that former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia allegedly held a secret meeting with Regional Secretaries and distributed cash envelopes in a bid to sway internal elections slated for tomorrow.

The report, first published by The Elephant News, has sent shockwaves through party ranks and sparked widespread public outrage.

According to the outlet, Dr. Bawumia allegedly pushed for a “top-down” voting strategy, an approach governance experts say undermines grassroots democracy and transparency within the party.

The alleged inducement has raised serious concerns about the integrity of the NPP’s internal democratic process. Critics argue that this development, if substantiated, would not only tarnish the Vice President’s image but also risk alienating the party’s grassroots base.

“This sets a dangerous precedent,” warned a political analyst. “If internal elections can be manipulated with money and influence, what message are we sending to the next generation of leaders?”

Transparency campaigners and party loyalists alike are demanding swift action. Some are calling for an independent investigation to verify the claims, while others are urging the party’s top brass to publicly denounce any such tactics.

As tensions rise ahead of the crucial vote, all eyes are on the NPP leadership to either clean house, or risk fracturing internal unity and credibility ahead of the national elections.
