
AS PART of his working tour of the Ketu South Municipality, Volta Regional Minister Hon. James Gunu has visited three proposed sites for the construction of a new market in Aflao, a project aimed at boosting local trade and easing pressure on traders who often rely on cross-border shopping in Lomé, Togo.
The minister emphasized the importance of the new market project in enhancing economic activities in the region and supporting small businesses. He reasserted the government’s commitment to delivering development that directly benefits the people.


During the tour, Hon. Gunu also paid a courtesy call on the Paramount Chief of Aflao, Togbi Adzongaga Amenya Fiti V. The visit was marked by a warm traditional welcome and a frank conversation on key issues affecting the community.
Togbi Fiti V highlighted several pressing concerns, including the deteriorating road network in Aflao, delays in the market construction, and challenges facing the chieftaincy institution.

The chief appealed for urgent attention to these matters, stressing on their impact on development and local governance.
In response, Hon. Gunu assured the traditional leader that all commitments made by H. E. President John Dramani Mahama to the people of the Volta Region would be honoured. He pledged to work closely with relevant stakeholders to address the concerns raised.

“Development is a shared responsibility. Together, we will move Volta forward,” the Minister, James Gunu concluded.
