IN A SIGNIFICANT move to promote sustainable development and organized land use, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, the Bono East Regional Minister, has officially inaugurated the Regional Spatial Planning Committee.

The newly formed Committee is tasked with developing a comprehensive Regional Spatial Development Framework, which will serve as a technical guide for land use and infrastructure planning across the region.

This initiative aims to tackle pressing challenges such as unauthorized developments, land disputes and environmental degradation.
Operating under the mandate of the Land Use and Spatial Planning Act, 2016 (Act 925), the Committee’s role is pivotal in ensuring coordinated and sustainable land management, while also supporting Ghana’s broader decentralization agenda.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Hon. Antwi commended the Committee members and expressed strong confidence in their capabilities. He pledged his office’s full support in creating a conducive environment for them to operate effectively.
“This is a crucial step toward ensuring that development in Bono East is well-structured, environmentally sound, and in the best interest of future generations,” the Minister emphasized.

The inauguration marks a new chapter in the region’s commitment to long-term planning and responsible land use management.
