IN A MAJOR political development, the former District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sefwi Akontombra and three-time Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency, Appiah-Kubi Baidoo, has officially resigned from the party.
In a resignation letter dated 16th April 2025 and addressed to the Constituency Chairman of the NPP in Sefwi Akontombra, Mr. Baidoo cited years of maltreatment and neglect by the party leadership as the primary reasons for his departure. He revealed that despite several efforts, including written appeals to the party’s National Executives, his grievances went unaddressed.

“I hope this message finds you well. Kindly accept this letter as formal notice of my resignation from the New Patriotic Party,” Baidoo stated in the letter. He expressed his gratitude to the party for the opportunity to serve as District Chief Executive and Parliamentary Candidate over the years and also offered an unreserved apology to his supporters and sympathizers who stood by him through thick and thin for the past two decades.

Mr. Baidoo concluded his letter by wishing the New Patriotic Party well in its future endeavors.
The letter has been copied to the Regional Chairman of the NPP in the Western North Region, the General Secretary at the Party’s Head Office in Accra and the media.

This development is likely to send shockwaves through the NPP’s base in the Western North Region, especially, as the party is preparing a rebuilding in the lead-up to the 2028 general elections.
