A WAVE of hope and clean water now flows through Lolito, as the Lolito Global Child and Youth Development Center, in collaboration with the Global Evangelical Church, Wisdom Chapel – Lolito and Compassion International Ghana, successfully commissioned a transformative Community Water Project.
The vibrant commissioning ceremony was attended by key stakeholders including Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, Municipal Chief Executive for South Tongu Municipality and Assembly Member for the Atravenu Electoral Area; Rev. A.K. Asunda (Frontline Church Pastor and Presbytery Clerk); Rev. Williams Dzikunu; and Presbytery Chairman Rev. Innocent Bidahor.

The newly inaugurated water system features three 500-liter storage tanks and six-basin hand washing sinks, all supported by a reverse osmosis system to desalinate drilled water.
The system guarantees a steady supply of clean and safe drinking water, even during maintenance works by the Ghana Water Company or in emergency situations. To ease access, additional water points have been established at Kopegame and near the church premises.
Speaking at the event, Stephen Bonsi, Project Director, emphasized the resilience and reliability of the system, while community youth leader and Unit Committee member, Mr. Faith Senyo Tamekloe, praised the project as a “game-changer,” providing a safe alternative to contaminated river water and significantly boosting community health.

Hon. Victoria Dzeklo,:Municipal Chief Executive of the area, expressed profound gratitude to the project’s partners, emphasizing the essential role clean water plays in improving health, education, and local economic activities. She pledged continued municipal support for similar future initiatives.
Rev. A.K. Asunda urged residents to maintain the facility responsibly, respect the system overseers, and foster unity, particularly during water collection. Meanwhile, Rev. Williams Dzikunu encouraged students and residents to uphold proper sanitation practices. Presbytery Chairman Rev. Innocent Bidahor reaffirmed the Church’s commitment to further supporting the community as resources allow.

The commissioning marks a monumental shift for the people of Lolito, who have long grappled with water scarcity and its accompanying health challenges.
A Mission Rooted in Empowerment
Established in November 2021, the Lolito Global Child and Youth Development Center has been at the forefront of empowering vulnerable children and youth in the region. Starting with 210 registered children from Lolito and neighboring communities, the center currently supports 269 individuals, including pregnant women.
Guided by a vision to nurture self-sufficiency among young people, the center launched its Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) initiative in 2023, following a successful funding proposal led by the Frontline Church Pastor. The current water project marks a major milestone in that initiative.

The effort is spearheaded by Rev. A.K. Asunda, working alongside a dedicated Church Partnership Committee comprising Mrs. Mary A. Doe, Catechist Joshua Adator, and Mrs. Martha Sotama-Dogbe.
The operational team includes Project Director Mr. Stephen Bonsi, Accounts Clerk Mr. Samuel Nudziekpor, Survival Implementer Madam Evania Afenyo, and Social Health Worker Madam Portia Wormadey, backed by 15 enthusiastic volunteers.

Their tireless work has not only brought clean water to the community but has also renewed hope for a healthier, stronger, and more empowered future for Lolito.
