THE FAMILY of the late Ghanaian business mogul, Alhaji Asoma Abu Banda, has issued a strong warning to one Alhaji Abdullaih Khalifa, accusing him of attempting to exploit the funeral and 40-day Adua of the deceased for personal financial gain.
In a press briefing held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, the family, led by its head Mohammed Abu Banda, cautioned the public against engaging with Alhaji Khalifa, aka Abomour, who they claim is fraudulently presenting himself as a representative of the Banda family.

According to the Asoma Banda family head, Khalifa is allegedly planning a parallel Adua event at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra, without the family’s consent or involvement.
The official Adua and funeral rites for the late Alhaji Asoma Abu Banda are scheduled to take place today, Thursday, April 10, 2025, at the Alhaji Asoma Banda Mosque, located near the Nyaho Clinic in Accra.
Describing Alhaji Khalifa’s actions as unscrupulous, the Banda family emphasized that he has no authority to organize any event in the name of the deceased and warned Ghanaians to be wary of his intentions.

They further alleged that Khalifa’s motive is to extort money from unsuspecting sympathizers and well-wishers by leveraging the name and legacy of the late businessman.
The family revealed that they have officially petitioned the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and other relevant authorities regarding the matter and called on government officials, friends and sympathizers to attend only the rightful Adua ceremony at the mosque. The Adua will be led by the National Chief Imam, Alhaji Osumanu Nuhu Sheihu Sharabuktu.
Alhaji Asoma Abu Banda, a renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist, passed away over a month ago and his family is determined to honour his memory with dignity and respect – free from fraudulent schemes.
