SOME IRATE youths in the Ayawaso Central in the Greater Accra Region have destroyed some four ballot boxes containing stamped fake ballot papers which were smuggled to the constituency collation centre in an attempt to swap the original ones.

Emerging reports and footages suggest that the Interior Minister and Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Henry Quartey, had attempted to undermine the electoral process amidst fears of defeat. Sources claim that Quartey through his boys smuggled four ballot boxes into the coalition center, aiming to manipulate the outcome; however, the plan quickly unravelled.
Local youth, identifying themselves as supporters of the Ayawaso community, acted swiftly upon discovering the ballot boxes. In a bold display of resistance, they destroyed the fake ballot boxes and ripped up the counterfeit papers, igniting widespread unrest in the area.

As news spread, a large crowd of young residents converged at the coalition centre, expressing their outrage and demanding accountability. Law enforcement was deployed to manage the escalating situation but their presence did little to calm the tension, as additional youth from Nima joined in solidarity with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The unfolding events have raised serious questions about the integrity of the electoral process in Ayawaso Central, showcasing the deepening divisions within the community. As citizens brace for potential repercussions, the call for transparency and truth in the electoral system has become more urgent than ever.
