ALHAJI DR. MAHAMOUDU Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has sparked controversy with his behavior at the Chief Imam’s Maulid celebration. Bawumia’s actions at the Chief Imam’s maulid undermine the principles of Islamic religion and destroy the progress of Islam in Ghana.

At the center of the controversy is Alhaji Bawumia’s decision to invite Christians dressed as Muslims to the event. The intention, allegedly, was to create a spectacle to cheer his appearance and exit. This move has been perceived as a cynical exploitation of religious sentiments for political gain.
As Ghanaians prepare for the December elections, it is crucial to reflect on the values that truly matter. The principles of Islam, as exemplified by the Prophet’s remarkable traits, should guide our actions. We must prioritize unity, respect, and genuine understanding over political expediency.

Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s approach has been more focused on political exploitation, using the Muslim community to further his own ambitions rather than genuinely addressing their needs.
The Maulid controversy serves as a wake-up call. Ghanaians must demand more from their leaders: leaders who will promote genuine unity and respect for all faiths, rather than exploiting religious differences for political gain.

In contrast, the NDC’s contributions to Ghana’s Muslim community have been significant, and their commitment to economic empowerment, education, healthcare, infrastructure development, and social inclusion has earned them the trust and loyalty of many Muslims in Ghana.
