FORMER PRESIDENT JOHN Dramani Mahama has encouraged the residents of Zango communities in the country not to allow themselves to intimidated by anyone during the limited voter registration exercises embarked on by the Electoral Commission (EC).

GREATER ACCRA REGIONAL NDC ZANGO CAUCUS COORDINATOR, ISMAILA HOROYA ALI ADDRESSING FORUM WITH CONSTITUENCY ZANGO CAUCUS COORDINATORS BY HIM.

He said no one is more Ghanaian than the other and that all tribes in Ghana have the right to register and vote to elect leaders they so wish for in the country.

He made the call during the Greater Accra Regional NDC Zango Caucus stakeholders meeting organised by the Zango Caucus Coordinator, Ismaila Horoya Ali over the weekend at Kanda National Mosque, Accra.

He went on to urge the residents of the Zango communities to fully participate in the registration exercises across country and they should not be intimidated by the antics of the Npp during the registration.

For the 2024 general elections, Former President John Mahama has iterated his party’s commitment to prioritize Zango communities in programmes that seek to better the well-being of its dwellers across the country.

He indicated that under his leadership vision, the next NDC government would ensure better transformation of Zango communities and its residents through the good policies his government initiated eight years ago but has been abandoned by the current Nana Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.

According to President John Mahama (JM) and NDC leader, the party does not take the unflinching support enjoyed from the Zango for granted; and they would continue to channel the needed development to the Zango communities for transformation.

PRESIDENT JOHN DRAMANI MAHAMA.

He said all projects that the NDC had started before leaving power in 2016 had been abandoned by the Akufo-Addo-led government, would be completed and new projects added in all sectors.

President Mahama explained that it was out of the love and reasonability the NDC has for the Zango communities that, its 2020 election manifesto captured most of the teething challenges faced by the people living in Zango.

He emphasized that, ” When we (NDC) thought it wise to establish unique places as mortuaries for the Muslims because of the unique way the Muslims bury their dead, we were been laughed at, but today, they are now commissioning mortuary projects. Last time, I saw the Vice President (Dr. Bawumia)  commissioning a mortuary, which is the hypocrisy we face in this country.”

The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC, Hon Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, also encouraged the Zango to participate in the on-going limited Voter registration exercise to enable the party to secure victory in order to rescue Ghanaians from the scavenger of NPP and misgoverned by the Nana Akufo-Addo led NPP.

The Greater Accra Regional NDC Chairman said the region is targeting 500, 000 more votes to catapult the NDC into power 2025 in addition to five more parliamentary seats to capture parliament.

To this, he urged supporters of the NDC to avoid complacency and accept to work hard and with total commitment to reach out to every voter in their electoral areas to ensure victory secured in 2024.

ISMAILA HOROYA ALI, GREATER ACCRA REGIONAL NDC ZANGO CAUCUS COORDINATOR.

Alhaji Mohammed Aremeyaw, aka Coolie Younger, National Coordinator of the Zango Caucus, in his solidarity remarks said the NDC will continue to offer support to Muslims across the country.

The Greater Accra Regional Zango Coordinator for the NDC, Alhaji Ismaila Horoya Ali, in his welcome address, rallied the Zango communities to vote massively on December 7, 2024, to return President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC to power.

According to him, President Mahama was the only candidate who could hold the nation together on the path of progress and development where the Zango communities stand to benefit.

He identified unemployment as the biggest challenge amongst the youth in the Zango communities and expressed assurance that the NDC would introduce pro-poor programmes in the Zangos to reduce unemployment and poverty.

The Zango Stakeholders Forum which was on the Theme; “Dakucikin, Together With You”, Horoya said is being organized to bring all the Zangos in the region together to brainstorm for solutions to the teething problems of basic facilities such as electricity, health, water and sanitation, and educational infrastructure lacking in their communities.

He however commended stakeholders, especially organizations that supported the organization of the forum, and asked that they continue with their support to address the problems. Stressing that NDC’s love, compassion, and respect for people living in Zongo communities was an indication of making every citizenry equal.

Ali Horoya appealed to the Zango residents not to listen to the lies of the scavenging  NPP, and advised them to come out in their numbers on Election Day and vote massively for the NDC.

Present at the forum were the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osumanu Nuhu Sharubutu,  Sheikh Umar Ibrahim, National Imam for Ahlusuna, Constituency Coordinators of the Zango Caucus, among other Muslim clerics.

Some organizations, institutions and individuals that donated towards the organization of the stakeholder’s forum were recognized with some certificates.
