THE “NATIONAL COALITION against illegal mining” is set for October 3, 2024 to protest against all forms of illegal mining in the country.

The Coalition also called on the Judiciary, Attorney General and the Police to immediately release some members of the “Democracy Hub” demonstrators court remanded.

Members of the “Democratic Hub” demonstrated against destruction of the country’s water bodies by illegal miners last week; but they were arrest and remanded by a court in Ghana for that protest.

According to the press statement issued in Accra on October 1, 2024, five (5) groups are expected to come together to form a Coalition that is demonstrating this week. They include; Youth Revolutionary Front; Youth Republic; Economic Fighters League and Democracy Hub.
The illegal mining has polluted about two-thirds of Ghana’s water bodies that provide the people of Ghana portable drinking water, with dangerous chemicals such as mercury, cyanide amongst others.

To this effects, the release implored all like-minded Ghanaians to show up on the 3rd October 2024 to protest against the government and its appointees who are busily engaged in the illegal mining and destruction of these water bodies.
President Akufo-Addo has his female children also engaged in this illegal mining; although information, yet to be ultenticated, indicates that they are not that activities.
