The ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP in Ayawaso Central Constituency in the Greater Accra Region always out-wit their counterparts in the National Democratic Congress, NDC over the parliamentary Seat in the area.
According to a flawless information Nationaltymes.com picked indicates that the NPP MP for Ayawaso Central Constituency, Henry Quartey has followed the footsteps of his predecessor, Sheikh I. C. QUAYE to sharply divide the Constituency NDC Executives and he adopted one portion. This move was to ensure he strengthens his Lead ahead of general elections in the area.
Since the NDC lost the seat to the NPP, Sheikh I. C. Quaye in 1996 the NDC in the area allowed themselves to be divided by the NPP with huge sums of money by Hon. I. C. Quaye and the trend continued unabated by the current NPP Hon. MP and Minister of Greater Accra Region, Henry Quartey.
This constant strategy the NPP adopted was to prevent the NDC from taking the seat, knowing the strength of the party (NDC) in the Ayawaso Central Constituency. Although, it was realised that anytime it is getting to the NDC Constituency executives elections huge money exchange hands to elect executives who would allow the NPP PC to sail through during the general elections.
Deliberate confusion is always created amongst the NDC members from the top hierarchy in the constituency with numrous accusations of each other to mess up the executives so they could not work together ahead of the general elections.
This portal was further hinted that almost all the Presidential results favours the NDC but the parliamentary seat is what the constituency executives sell to the NPP.
Sources close to the NDC in the area hinted this portal that when fight broke up between the Constituency Organiser, Henry Nii Otu and the Secretary, Michael O. Sememhyia, the MP for the area who is also the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey went and ensured they are granted bail when the Police arrested them and he dished out money to them.
As part of these ongoing problems, Nationaltymes.com gathered that the NDC Constituency Chairman, Gerald Dela has allegedly ordered the organiser, Henry Nii Otu to pour salt and one other destructive minerals on the engine of Mahindra pickup the party gave to the Constituency for their activities.
Meanwhile, the party in the Constituency is preparing for restructuring of the branches amongst other activities, some of which had started ahead of the branch and Constituency elections somewhere in September.
People who interacted with Nationaltymes.com pointed out that the NDC cannot snatch the seat from the NPP if the party did not have ‘died in the womble’ NDC executives at the branch levels who could carry out serious overhauling of the current constituency executives for the party to snatch the seat at least for once.
Failure to do this, then, even if the NPP presents ‘a dog’ as their Parliamentary Candidate, PC they will still win the seat.
In addition, the sources close to the NDC party in the Ayawaso Central lamented that the NPP PCs try to sharply divide and adopt portions of the NDC executives to ensure he strengthens his lead ahead of the general elections in the area.
But source was quick to pray that the branch executives would elect real NDC people who might not fall for the antics and strategies of the NPP and they would be first to rescue the party and recover Ayawaso Central seat for the NDC for once at least.
