The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi, has challenged African youth to take an active role in driving the continent’s economic transformation, stressing that they are not leaders of the future but leaders of today.
He said Africa’s economic prospects depend largely on the ability of its young population to identify opportunities, embrace innovation and participate actively in production, trade and investment.

Lawyer Gyamfi made the call when he addressed participants at the close of the two-day Loveworld Trade and Investment Forum (LTIF), Accra Edition, held at the Ohene Konadu Auditorium of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
He stressed the need for Africans to shift focus towards production, entrepreneurship and value creation, rather than depending excessively on imported goods and external resources, adding that young entrepreneurs must be prepared to recognize emerging opportunities and develop the capacity to take advantage of them.

“As young people, we must know that we are not future leaders but we are leaders for today. Africa is not the future. Africa is the now. Africa is already rising and many young people are rising with Africa. Do not miss out,” he said.
Lawyer Gyamfi also urged participants to pay attention to the government’s forthcoming 2027 Budget Statement, which he said will provide important direction on the country’s economic agenda and opportunities for businesses and investors.
While touching briefly on what he described as an emerging “New Economy,” he indicated that government’s forthcoming economic direction will place emphasis on mobilising resources for productive activities, but directed participants to the 2027 Budget for full details.

The GoldBod CEO further encouraged young people and entrepreneurs to explore opportunities within Ghana’s gold sector, noting that GoldBod offices remain open on Thursdays and Fridays to provide information and guidance to persons interested in the gold value chain.

The LTIF Accra Edition, convened by Loveworld Commerce Minister, Madam Stephanie Oforka, brought together over 2,000 entrepreneurs, business participants and other stakeholders for discussions on production, trade, investment, innovation and economic development.
“As young people, we must know that we are not future leaders but we are leaders for today. Africa is not the future. Africa is the now. Africa is already rising and many young people are rising with Africa. Do not miss out,” he said.
