PRESIDENT John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to accountability, inclusive governance, and national development during a Town Hall Meeting with members of the Ghanaian community in the United Kingdom.
The engagement held in London, formed part of activities surrounding the Ghana–UK Investment Summit, which seeks to strengthen trade relations, deepen economic cooperation, and attract strategic investments into Ghana.
Addressing the gathering, President Mahama highlighted the important role Ghanaians living abroad continue to play in the country’s development and assured them that government remains committed to creating opportunities for their active participation in national affairs.


He disclosed that ongoing constitutional review processes are aimed at expanding the involvement of the diaspora in governance. According to him, the proposed reforms will make it possible for eligible dual citizens to serve in Parliament and hold ministerial positions, allowing more Ghanaians abroad to contribute directly to nation-building.
The President also touched on Ghana’s improving economic outlook, noting that recent reforms have earned the country growing international recognition as a model for economic recovery and stability.

President John Mahama further reiterated Ghana’s commitment to regional integration and economic cooperation across Africa. He stressed the importance of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) in promoting trade, investment, and shared prosperity among African countries.
He noted that stronger collaboration among African nations remains key to unlocking the continent’s economic potential and creating opportunities for future generations.

The Town Hall Meeting also highlighted the strategic importance of the Ghanaian diaspora in driving socio-economic transformation, attracting investment, and strengthening Ghana’s global partnerships.
President Mahama encouraged Ghanaians in the UK to continue contributing their knowledge, expertise, and resources towards the country’s development, assuring them that their efforts remain valued and appreciated.
