HON. ROLAND Atanga Ayoo, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Bolgatanga Municipality, has taken a proactive step to promote environmental cleanliness by engaging roadside traders on proper waste management practices.

During a routine visit within the municipality on Tuesday, the MCE stopped along some busy trading areas to interact with market women and other traders whose surroundings were littered with plastic waste materials.
Speaking to the traders, Hon. Ayoo stressed the importance of keeping business environments clean to protect public health and improve the appearance of the municipality. He urged them to regularly sweep their frontages and properly dispose of plastic waste to help create a cleaner and healthier Bolgatanga.
According to the MCE, sanitation remains a shared responsibility and every resident has a role to play in maintaining a beautiful municipality. He noted that indiscriminate disposal of plastic waste contributes to poor drainage, environmental pollution, and the spread of diseases.

The traders welcomed the MCE’s advice and expressed their willingness to support efforts aimed at improving sanitation within the municipality. Some residents who witnessed the interaction commended Hon. Roland Atanga Ayoo for demonstrating practical leadership by personally engaging the traders instead of only issuing instructions from the office.
The exercise forms part of ongoing efforts by the Municipal Assembly to strengthen public awareness on sanitation and encourage community participation in environmental cleanliness across Bolgatanga Municipality.
