MR. AFETSI AWOONOR.

By Jamila Wahab

THE PARAMOUNT Chief of the Buipe Traditional Area, Buipewura Jinapor II, has praised the Managing Director of BOST Energies, Mr. Afetsi Awoonor, describing him as a “warrior of development, not war” for his efforts to support growth in Buipe.

He made this remark during a courtesy visit to the BOST Energies Head Office in Accra, where he met with Mr. Awoonor and his management team.

Speaking during the visit, the Buipewura said that while warriors are traditionally known for fighting, modern-day warriors contribute through development. He commended Mr. Awoonor for his work and thanked him for his contributions to the people of Buipe.

The Chief also praised BOST Energies for its continued presence in the area. He noted that the Buipe Depot has become more than just a fuel facility, as it now provides jobs and supports many families. He further highlighted the company’s social responsibility efforts, including job opportunities for young people, scholarships for students, and the building of community centres.

In response, Mr. Afetsi Awoonor thanked the Buipewura for his kind words and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to the area. He explained that Buipe plays an important role in Ghana’s fuel supply. He also announced two major upcoming projects. The first is a training centre to be built in Savelugu, which will equip young people from Buipe, across Ghana, and neighbouring countries with skills in logistics and petroleum operations.

The second project is a modern truck park at the Buipe Depot. Construction is expected to begin this year, and it aims to improve safety, reduce traffic congestion, and boost economic activity in the area. Mr. Awoonor assured the Chief that more development projects are planned and that BOST Energies will continue to work closely with the Buipe Traditional Council to meet the needs of the community.

The Buipewura, in turn, pledged the full support of the Traditional Council, stressing that strong partnerships are built on peace and development.
