HON. HARUNA Iddrisu, Tamale South Member of Parliament and Ghana’s Minister of Education, has paid about $27,000 (around GH¢300,000) to support the fourth surgery of a six-year-old boy, Abdula Hannan, at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Abdula Hannan has been battling serious health problems since he accidentally drank a soda-based chemical substance while playing at home at the age of two. This incident caused severe internal injuries and left him unable to eat normally.
Over the past four years, he has undergone three surgeries, with this fourth one expected to help restore his ability to eat and improve his quality of life.
Doctors at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital had monitored Hannan’s condition and delayed the final surgery until now considered to be the suitable age for the complex procedure. Currently, the boy is fed through a tube connected to his stomach.

Hon. Haruna Iddrisu stepped in after learning about the child’s condition and has since covered the cost of all four surgeries. He has also promised to continue supporting the boy’s recovery, including care after the surgery.
According to the Chronicle report, a representative of the minister, Rafia Nagumsi, said he met the family by chance and immediately offered help. She also used the opportunity to advise parents to keep harmful substances away from children.

The boy’s parents expressed deep gratitude, saying they could not have afforded the treatment without his support. They described him as a “saviour” and called on Ghanaians to appreciate his intervention.
