AS PART of his ongoing stakeholder engagement with agencies under the Ministry for Energy and Green Transition, the Minister, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, paid a working visit to the Ghana National Gas Company Ltd. (GNGC) over the week.
The visit was aimed at discussing the company’s strategic direction and the broader role of gas in Ghana’s future energy.
Addressing management and staff, Hon. John Jinapor underscored the vital role of gas in ensuring national energy security and driving economic growth. He called for intensified efforts to scale up domestic gas production and expand infrastructure, including pipeline networks.
“Gas is not just a transitional fuel — it is central to Ghana’s energy security and industrialisation agenda. We must accelerate investments in infrastructure to ensure efficient delivery and long-term sustainability,” he added.
He assured GNGC of the government’s full commitment to strengthening the gas sector to support power generation, industrial expansion, and job creation.
Welcoming the Minister, GNGC Managing Director, Ms. Judith Adjobah Blay, expressed appreciation for his visit and commended his forward-looking leadership.
She pledged the company’s readiness to align with the government’s priorities for energy sector transformation.
“We are motivated by your vision, Hon. Minister. Ghana Gas is fully committed to delivering on its mandate to support national development,” she stated.
Speaking to staff, Hon. John Jinapor (J.J.) urged them to remain committed and assured them of government support.
“I stand here not only as your Minister but as a partner in this important journey. Your dedication and expertise are critical to our collective success,” he said.
He also disclosed plans for a new gas processing plant, which he said would enhance operations, increase supply reliability, and create new economic opportunities.
The visit reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with key energy sector institutions and advancing initiatives to secure Ghana’s energy future.
