THE GHANA Adaptive Boxing Federation (GABF) has presented an international boxing title to the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, in recognition of the Federation’s recent success at the Seven Stars Promotions Para Boxing Championship held in Poland.
The event, organized on April 5, 2025, at the M7 Club in Poland, featured adaptive boxers from various countries, including Ghana, Poland, Spain, and Canada. Ghana was represented by two male boxers, Emmanuel Alabi Abang and Rasheed Mohammed.

Despite financial and logistical challenges that prevented the full team of six boxers and a coach from participating, Abang delivered an impressive performance, defeating Poland’s Prezenyslaw Sutkowski to secure a title in his category.
During the presentation ceremony in Accra, Minister Adams commended the GABF for their dedication and resilience in promoting adaptive boxing in Ghana.
He acknowledged the Federation’s efforts in funding their participation in the international tournament without external support and emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting lesser-known sports disciplines.

“Your achievement is a testament to what determination and hard work can accomplish, even in the face of adversity,” Minister Adams stated. He urged the Federation to begin preparations for the upcoming title defense, expected to be announced at anytime, and assured them of the Ministry’s support in their endeavors.

According to the administrator of the Federation, Patrick Johnson they want this success be seen by their colleagues on the streets to also develop interest in adaptive boxing within Ghana, highlighting the need for greater investment and support for athletes with disabilities.
