THE AMBASSADOR of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Ghana has paid a courtesy call on the Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, to extend congratulations on his re-election and to discuss the strengthening of diplomatic ties between the two nations.
At the meeting, the Ambassador described Ghana as a strategic partner in the West African sub-region, and emphasized the Saudi Government’s interest in deepening bilateral cooperation.
He appealed for support from the Speaker and Members of Parliament to revive and accelerate the implementation of key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed between the two countries, some of which have yet to be operationalized.
On his part, the Rt. Hon. Speaker warmly welcomed the Ambassador and expressed gratitude for the Saudi Government’s continued support, especially in facilitating the annual pilgrimage of thousands of Ghanaian Muslims to the Holy Land.
