THE NATIONAL Executive Council of the Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) has announced that it has put in place legal support mechanisms to assist its members who face legal troubles due to their journalistic work.
This move comes in response to a recent surge in incidents involving the invitations, arrests and detention of some editors and publishers over content published in their respective media outlets.
In a notice issued by the Association, PRINPAG assured its members that a team of dedicated lawyers is now on standby to provide immediate legal assistance.
Members who are invited by security agencies, arrested or detained in connection with their professional duties are advised to contact the PRINPAG Secretariat without delay.
PRINPAG also used the opportunity to urge all members to continue upholding the highest standards of professionalism, responsibility and ethical conduct in their work as media practitioners.
For legal support, members may contact:
Executive Secretary: 0244 822 034
President: 0244 980 088
PRINPAG remains committed to defending press freedom and protecting the rights of its members.
